Matt 00:00
Finally driving in her first. Driverless car. For the rest of her life must be spent in driverless cars. Basically. That's the Wandering Chris up ahead of us.
Joshua 00:25
Hello. Hello.
Matt 00:26
Hello.
Joshua 00:26
How you doing, Matt?
Matt 00:29
Doing well. Is it Josh or Joshua?
Joshua 00:30
Joshua like the tree. Yeah. Thanks for asking. How you doing, man?
Matt 00:32
Joshua. I'm well. Thank you. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Like a stressful, stressful week.
Joshua 00:35
Good. Yeah, dude. Nuts. Thank God everyone's okay. My cousin had a complication that she had to have emergency open heart surgery to do a CPR for 21 minutes. The saver was so scary.
Matt 00:54
You had to do CPR.
Joshua 00:54
But no, not me. They had to do CPR. Yeah. Yeah. That would be a different level of trauma for sure. Yeah. But, yeah, just great, great reminders, you know, that this is. This be precious, this life we're in.
Matt 01:09
Yeah, totally.
Joshua 01:09
But all beautiful things now, thank God. Where are you based out of?
Matt 01:13
I'm in New York. What about yourself?
Joshua 01:14
Oh, cool. Currently, I'm in Upstate New York. I'm just at a lake outside of an hour and a half outside of Buffalo, New York and western New York.
Matt 01:22
Got. It.
Joshua 01:23
And I'm based out of Santa Monica, though, mostly. Yeah.
Matt 01:25
Got it. Got it. And how do you get connected with Mark?
Joshua 01:28
Yeah. Yeah. So I've been working with Mark for over a year, and I'm almost about probably a year and a half. I. The kind of quick, skinny in the backstory on myself and on Mark is that I've been in the startup space my whole life. And I recently. I recently had a D2C company. I help build. My cousin and I co-founded it was a. We built an ice bath company, and we rocket shipped it during the whole kind of ice bath craze. Built it 20 million in revenue and then, like, crashed pretty hard end of 2024. Lots of amazing lessons learned, all that stuff. Fantastic. And then after that, I crossed paths with Mark, kind of thinking about what's my next move, what's the next thing. And he was just getting ready to launch his book, and entrepreneurs guide to Freedom. Before I did the ice bath company, I helped build a online coaching and education company and platform. And so I had been deep into that space, and so we kind of just align so much on so many different things, cross paths. And he brought me on to help him. Kind of shape his, you know, personal brand launch with the book and some of these other coaching and Frameworks that he shares with Founders across the board. And then from that, I kind of got roped into ground force capital, some other things have since started a D2C growth marketing agency as well that I'm helping out with some of his clients on with some cool AI driven stuff. And now we're getting ready to launch this, this cohort here shortly for Founders and CEOs to make that kind of next level shift. So that's the short backstory.
Matt 03:01
Yeah. No, because now I'm connecting the dots. Some of things Market reference on our, on our call. All good.
Joshua 03:06
Yep. Yep.
Matt 03:07
So what do we need to do on this call?
Joshua 03:08
Yeah. So first, tell me a little bit about Wandering Bear. I've. Dude, I love the brand, by the way. I get it air one all the time, so I was stoked to be able to make the connect. Did you, did you talk with what, what did you talk with Mark about?
Matt 03:25
So Mark and I have been in. I mean, I think we've been touched a few times over the years. We reconnected after eudaimonia.
Joshua 03:30
Okay.
Matt 03:31
This past year.
Joshua 03:32
Yep.
Matt 03:35
He had sent. I think it was on his mail blast when he the other week when he published the, the master class video, kind of like the sales tool, I guess, for this.
Joshua 03:42
Yeah. Yeah. Right, Right.
Matt 03:47
Which I said I told him I would watch and I didn't. And it resonated. And so we had a conversation about that. I mean, I think the.
Joshua 03:50
Yeah. Cool.
Matt 03:55
What? Yeah. What, what he described? Yeah, I resonate with what he describes it very much like the journey I've been on. I am. For three, four getting in my fourth year. Kev with an eye towards that exact journey and being awareness on it. Like I joined a local yPO chapter. Three or four years ago. And so I'm doing like a lot of this type of work. I think what resonated with me about the conversation with mark a little bit just like the accountability and the drumbeat. A good bit like his just passion for it.
Joshua 04:24
Yeah. Yeah.
Matt 04:36
Like, I think what I, if in full transparency, I was like really sussing out with like was his authentic, you know, I know more, I know Mark, but I don't know him super well. And it was very clear, kind of like just the source of passion and energy he's getting from like, you know, this curve in his life and wanting to share and te and like, so like I respect and value that energy. I think, you know, the,
Joshua 04:38
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. Totally.
Matt 04:59
The 12,000 he's asking for is like a totally reasonable number for, it's like, not like, it's like, I'll just like, it all just is like totally. And I would really value, I always the opportunity to like do the hard work along others like selfishly doing that hard work. And I think that's like the people I try to surround myself with.
Joshua 05:01
Yeah. Totally. Right. Yep.
Matt 05:18
So it kind of all just was an easy. Yeah, let's do it.
Joshua 05:22
Love it. Amazing. Cool. So he went kind of overthrew the whole overview.
Matt 05:25
Yeah. He, the only thing we didn't cover them actually curious if you have a perspective. It occurred to me after the call because I, I don't know who else. I, I don't know what format like this, the weekly sessions are going to take and what the connection among the cohort participants would be. But I'm curious like how or what, how, how you are thinking to manage confidentiality expectation, conflicts of interest, like how you would think to manage that in a group that probably over indexes and like consumer CPG vice.
Joshua 05:26
Yeah. Yep. Yeah, definitely. That's part of the reason why I kind of hop onto these calls, and we're very, we're very picky and choosy around who we're bringing in and the dynamic of who we're bringing in. And at any given time, we are, I mean, everything, like, you know, from the ypo Forum type of thing, everything is in that confidentiality. And people, like, in the group format, you can go as deep as you want. But really, the, the value is in that, you know, there's the peer accountability and that peer kind of trajectory, which is fantastic.
Matt 05:56
Like.
Joshua 06:21
But this is a very much kind of one-on-one practical implementation toolkit with you and mark. So the group is, like, kind of one accessory to help drive that. But, like, the bi-weekly one-on-ones and the, you know, deep dive strategy and the intake form. And we built this really slick dashboard where all of the tools and exercises and things that you do get piped into this one place that you're able to, you know, as you keep and retain that are all very implementation and obviously built for busy Founders. It's like one thing each week, like, here's the one thing we're going to do. Here's the one thing we're going to learn is the one tool we're going to implement, like one action we're going to take, and we're going to go do it. So that's, that's a little bit more context towards that, if that makes sense.
Matt 07:00
It. Okay, so the group actually is like a, is a tool more than a core part of the.
Joshua 07:04
Correct. Correct. Yep.
Matt 07:06
Answers to the question actually.
Joshua 07:06
Yep. Yeah. Yeah.
Matt 07:10
So less of a form, more of a classroom.
Joshua 07:12
Bingo. Yep. And naturally within the classroom, it's going to be like it's going to be a classroom where people are going to, we're going to go deep. Like, it just naturally happens that way every time, but correct less of a form, more of a classroom is a perfect way to say it.
Matt 07:14
Got it.
Joshua 07:25
Yeah.
Matt 07:25
Amazing. I guess what, what else?
Joshua 07:29
I just wanted to understand what context you had, and this sounds like something you want to do. We can go ahead and get you on boarded and make this really, really easy. Get your spot locked in. I can talk through any, some more of those, those details.
Matt 07:29
For me? Just what, what it, what is the, the timeline for all of it?
Joshua 07:42
Yeah. So we're, we're planning to launch the cohort in August. It's looking probably in mid August. So Mark and I, we're going to confirm dates, but some point in August, mid to late, I would say at this point, mid to late. But, and then it's a 12 week container. And before the actual first session of the 12 week starts with the group, there's this kind of deep onboarding intake that will have you do. And then from that you have like an hour deep dive strategy call with mark to help really shape the, you know, your own trajectory through it and also to help develop and discern what the ROI we're going for is because this whole thing is, I don't know if you told you, but it's like everything's ROI driven and there's a 5xr, I guarantee on this too because he, that's what he's here to do at this point. And, and so, like, we really want to get quantifiable about, like, what, what does that look like? Is that a softer accountability of just like, what does it look like to practically make the shifts that we want to make? So that'll happens first, and then we go into the 12 weeks, and then it's by the bi-weekly one-on-one setup with Mark throughout the 12 weeks. That weekly session with the group and, and then, you know, closing one-on-one session with Mark II. And then, and then opportunities to continue working down the road, of course, depending on what that looks like.
Matt 08:54
Amazing.
Joshua 08:54
Yep. Sweet. Well, if there's no other questions, we would love to get you locked in. The way we're going to do, the way we're doing it right now until we get that date set, what we're doing is we're doing so we can do the split pay option. You're obviously painful can work too, but we're doing, we're offering like four, three payments of 4K per month. And we're doing first 4K down to, like, hold the spot and then 30 days from the start date is when the second payment will process and then the third 30 days after that. Cool.
Matt 09:23
It's fine. I like that. It works.
Joshua 09:23
Awesome. Sweet. Well, I'll just go ahead and then I'll send you, I'll send you over right now, just like the onboarding link, unless you have a card you want to give me to get your spot locked in. Otherwise I'll send you, like, the onboarding link that has all the.
Matt 09:27
Yeah. You know, send the link. I'll put it like through the right channel. The.
Joshua 09:35
Perfect.
Matt 09:38
What's your, what is your, I mean, it sounds like you have your hand and a few cookie jars right now. What's your involvement in the course?
Joshua 09:41
Yeah. I'm going to be, I'm going to be present throughout all the sessions and supporting Mark in that. My involvement is really on helping manage that, like building the back end infrastructure. And being able to make time as streamlined as possible. So, like, I'm not, I'm not taking, like, I'm not a teaching role in it. I'm more of a kind of support and right hand for Mark throughout it.
Matt 10:06
Yep. Got it. And is the vision that this is like a, like a pilot, like in, like, you know, you'll get through the full thing and then figure out what's next or are you staging like, like cohorts that'll be stacked concurrently?
Joshua 10:16
The. Yeah, good question. The vision is right now is to Stage cohorts that will stack. So we're going to take this one and do it all the way through and not, like, start to try to fill another cohort as we're going through. We're going to just deliver this cohort. Part of the reason, too, so we can, like, we did, we did, like, a beta cohort of this earlier this year, and it was like 10 out of 10. Everyone loved it. It was amazing. And so this is like, this is like the next iteration of that. And then from there, the idea is that we're going to open up other cohorts, perhaps adapt depending on how the flow goes and what we like. But Mark really does like this format. He shines in this format as well. And he goes all in on it. So the, the vision right now is that we're going to, at the end of this, we're going to do open up for another cohort and then have some sort of opportunity for people that are finishing this cohort to continue on in some way. Yeah.
Matt 11:04
Got it. How is recruiting going for this cohort?
Joshua 11:07
So far, so good. I mean, it's so interesting because it's like the, it's a very specific type of person that's going to, that resonates with this. And so, like, when someone resonates with it and gets it and is in that position, it's like the alignment there. And when they talk to markets, it's like, cool. Like, this is a yes. But there's, I would say it's like there's, there's everybody needs this kind of work, but not everybody's ready for it, so. And that's a lot, right? You know, that's a lot of kind of the work that we're doing is sussing out. And it's like, it's like, it's interesting thing because it's like we're, we're recruiting for it, but we're also, like, interviewing people for it, too. Right. So it's like we're, we're, we're so it's, it's, it's Unique. And Mark's got a fantastic network. And, like, we've been focusing really this just on kind of that internal warm network of people around myself and around Mark to, to recruit for this one. And, and it's, yeah, it's going, I would say a little slower than we maybe were anticipating because we didn't, we didn't go cold marketing for any of this for this first one, so. But really good quality. Like the ones that we're getting locked in, it's like, this is genuinely exciting. This is going to be life changing. This is going to be epic. So that's, that's, that's how it's going.
Matt 11:30
I get that. Yeah. Quality, obviously, over. I mean, it's.
Joshua 12:17
Quality for sure.
Matt 12:19
Yeah, it's, it's. That, you know, that's, it's, I think the thing in just drawing from the ypo experience that makes it take as much time as it does, you know, because that's like a full commit where everyone, at least in, in.
Joshua 12:30
Right.
Matt 12:32
Principle and commitment, like, can say the words, they've, like, cleared the time. They're ready for it. Like, I, like, delayed joining for, like, two years because I wasn't, like, emotionally and, like, ready to just, like, do it. And, but then once you do that, the learning curve to learn how to do, how to access that type of. Vulnerability, how to be willing to share how to, like, be emotionally aware to label and be like, you're in a group of six to eight, you're, like, doing that concurrently. And so, like, until everyone is there.
Joshua 12:53
Yeah. Right.
Matt 13:03
You can't really begin that, like, that next. Is that did you, are you in a white? Did you join ypo during your.
Joshua 13:07
No, no, no. My, my dad was in ypo for a while, and so I got to learn a little bit about from his, his experience. But.
Matt 13:11
You? Yeah.
Joshua 13:13
Yeah.
Matt 13:13
Yeah. It's so, so it. So just a point, like the, the, the. This more certain you can be that everyone in the group is, like, able and will ready to engage. I think, Mark, we'll get more energy. The group will be more connected. It's just.
Joshua 13:24
Yeah. For sure. For sure. It's, it's kind of the only way, right? You can't because we, because it's like everyone needs to be like, we can only go as deep as right wherever the person is.
Matt 13:29
Yeah.
Joshua 13:38
Who's the most closed off or guarded. Right. Essentially. And for specifically for the group stuff as well. But that's a cool part about this and why we didn't decide to make it just forum based delivery, but have that be a piece of it is an important piece, but also to have it be super, you know, one-on-one and, you know, practical toolkit.
Matt 13:56
Very cool. Well, thanks, Joshua. We'll talk soon.
Joshua 13:57
Yeah. Sweet. All right, awesome. Great to come back. Talk to you later. Bye.
